Free Public Workshop on Landbird Species at Risk in Forested Wetlands Wednesday March 7th 7-9 pm McConnell Library, 50 Falmouth St, Sydney, NS
The Landbird Species at Risk (SAR) project, led by Dr. Cindy Staicer at Dalhousie University, is focused on three species at risk – Canada Warbler, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Rusty Blackbird – that breed in forested wetland habitats in Nova Scotia. The project intends to identify important breeding areas for these species and to engage the public in stewardship of high quality habitat. The workshop will introduce the project, summarize what is known about these birds and their habitats, provide identification tips, describe the different ways that volunteers can participate in field surveys and submit sightings, and discuss other ways that people can contribute to the recovery of these species.
Admission is free but registration is required. To register or if you have questions, please contact: LandbirdSAR@MerseyTobeatic.ca
