June 19, 2017 | by: Bill Bradley

As expected, Katy Perry debuted on top the “Billboard” 200 Album chart. The singer moved 180,000 copies of her latest release, “Witness,” to earn the number one spot, her third number one following 2013’s “Prism,” and 2010’s “Teenage Dream.”

Perry also has the biggest sales by a woman for 2017, and the largest sales by a women since Lady Gaga’s “Joanne” sold 201,000 units last November. It is also the second straight week a woman has topped the “Billboard” 200, following the number one debut of Halsey’s “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” last week.
